After, calling home
Your garden has its own guardian now.
So my walk with you is over. Before I go, I call home, with public things only.
It is one note, signed three times. It is not the two promises of the last page: those were yours and your guardian's, sealed together. This note is a different act.
Your garden calls us. We never call yours. What crosses is a record that this garden was planted from here. It is not access.
What goes home
- The IDs and the public fingerprints of your garden, its guardian, you and your companion, so others can check what each signs
- Your garden's name and its mark
- How your key is kept: in your keychain, in 1Password, or, in a preview, in a locked file
- That a guardian was planted from here
What never does
- Anything you wrote or said to me
- Your keys
- Your files, or your garden's pages
One note, three signatures
The note names your garden, its guardian and you. It is signed three times, and the last is yours.
- 1Your garden's rootSigns for the garden.
- 2Your guardianSigns with their own key.
- 3You, by your own handAt your own terminal. I show you the note in plain words, and you type your guardian's pair back. I can't do it for you. A chat is not a terminal, and that is by design.
Nothing is sent yet. In the preview the call home sends nothing, and I say so. When it does, I answer with a signed note of my own over this one, and that brings nothing into your garden.
Walk well.
Your guardian greets you when you open your garden. They belong to your garden, and they will hold the door.
